Charlotte Turns Three

It’s hard to believe that what was once this tiny baby:

Newborn Char

Is now this big girl:

CIMG0990

Charlotte has changed so much in the past year. Her vocabulary has exploded, and if she’s not talking, she’s singing. She has become incredibly affectionate, often insisting on hugging her friends goodbye before we leave daycare at the end of the day, and she offers up spontaneous “I love yous” to us multiple times a day (makes my heart melt every time). While at one point I definitely thought she was more of a Daddy’s girl, right now she is Mama’s girl, wanting to be near me whenever possible. Although I confess that at times her clinginess drains me, I am so very glad that she loves me and wants to be around me. She is my little helper and wants to be by assistant when I cook and clean, and I will certainly never refuse that! 🙂 Her laugh is infectious and frequent, and she has a happy disposition most of the time. Always on the move, she would play outside all the time if she could, and she would prefer never to nap or go to bed (How is she my child?? Sleep is the best!). She has her own ideas about how things should be done, and she’s not afraid to let us know.  If we’re not stacking the blocks in the “right” way, she corrects us. She has a bossy streak, too, and loves to tell us what to say to her (Example: “Mommy, now you say, ‘How was your day?'”). Clothing is not her favorite thing, and even when it’s cold in the house, she would rather be barefoot and wearing only underwear. Her favorite foods consist of oatmeal, yogurt, applesauce, chicken nuggets, pretzels, and fruit snacks. She shuns virtually all veggies and only likes a select few fruits.

To commemorate her birthday, we decided to interview her to find out what her favorite things are. The results were entertaining and perfectly Charlotte (you’ll notice that she is not wearing pants). Happy birthday, Charlotte! We couldn’t love you more!

(If you’d like to see another interview from when she was 2.5, go here.)
